I would like to say a very big thank you to the Grantham Journal for its Business Awards evening last Wednesday - it was a wonderful evening from beginning to end.
I was fortunate enough to be awarded Employee of the Year; however, I would like to take this opportunity to say that although I feel very honoured to have been given this award, I could not have achieved it without the help and support of Maureen Jones (manager), Sue Church (administrator) and in particular, every one of the fantastic carers at Gilder Care. Without each one of them I wouldn’t be able to do my job anywhere near as effectively.
There is so much bad press about all the many aspects of care and support given to the elderly and disabled and I would like to go some way to redress the balance. We often hear about the scandalous shortfalls in the standards of care, however there are many smaller, dedicated companies providing support, who commit to a high quality of care and regard their clients with the dignity and respect they so richly deserve.
I truly believe the only way forward for adult social care is with smaller companies who take the trouble to get to know their clients, and can therefore provide a service tailored to individual needs, rather than the “one size fits all” approach of the huge healthcare organisations.
