Business is booming just great in Grantham!
Everyone at Wednesday’s Grantham Journal Business Awards will testify to that after a superb evening at Belton House.
More than 200 people turned out for the black tie event as more awards than ever were handed out by an array of sponsors and hosted by the Journal’s editor, Paul Richardson.
He said: “It was another marvellous occasion. We had some brilliant winners and the atmosphere was very positive and buoyant. The finalists and winners really are the best of the best. I congratulate them all on their success.”
After the cold winter, the weather was kind and there was even some Spring sunshine on offer as people made their away to the superb marquee and a Champagne reception.
There was a silent auction and prize draw which rasied £980 for The Children’s Air Ambulance charity, and Grantham Business Club chairman Stuart Pigram, one of the sponsors, received backing for his London Marathon attempt when he will be raising money for the National Children’s Blind Society and Rainbows hospice for children and young people.
Then it was onto the serious business of finding out who the judges felt were deserving of an accolade - credit for a year of relentless hard work and brilliance in tough times for all.
And there were many loud cheers when the winners were announced, with Pentangle Engineering keeping up the town’s engineering and manufacturing pedigree by winning the business of the year and Liz Villani of business consultancy and advice company Courageous Success taking home the business person of the year accolade. Liz was in Australia as part of the company’s expansion plans, so her award was accepted by colleague Julie Whitworth.
The Journal special award went to Quality Furniture, a company which continues to innovate, find new markets and, most importantly of all, continually manage to create new jobs in Grantham.
