Grantham College based its annual student conference around building knowledge of communities this year.
Four separate workshops were held to promote activism and diversity in both local and college communities.
Brian Hanbury, co-ordinator of Grantham Foodbank, explained the organisation’s role in the community as part of the Pride in Helping the Community workshop.
Students found several of Brian’s stories in distributing 23,000 meals to local people very moving.
In another keynote speech, local National Citizen Service co-ordinator Marc Clowes told students of the benefit to themselves and the community that their programme offers. Participants receive a certificate signed by the Prime Minister upon completion.
Lucy Porter, student services manager, said: “The students seemed to really enjoy themselves whilst learning more about so many aspects of their community.”
