PROUD primary school pair Harry Taylor and Nigel Brown have taken recycling to new levels - creating their own go-kart out of unwanted items.

The Isaac Newton Primary School boys created their go-kart - named “Fat Kat” - during break and lunch times before giving it a test run this week.

Headmaster Stephen Tapley said: “The boys saw some bits and pieces in the recycling and asked if they could smash it up but someone said to them why don’t you try making something instead. So they decided to build a go-kart.

“We got everything together but all we needed was some wheels. We put an appeal in the school newsletter and within an hour we’d had wheels from a pram donated.”

The boys have been tearing round the corridors during rainy lunchtimes and, unsurprisingly, fellow pupils have begun to get a little jealous.

Mr Tapley said: “They spent a week making it and they absolutely loved it. They’re desperate to take it outside and some of the other children are saying they want to make one too.”
