A GREAT event was organised on Monday, January 16 between the Isaac Newton School and a group of local astronomers.
The sky was clear, the Plough and the North Star easily identified, Orion and his shiny belt unmistakable, but the “star” of the evening was in fact a planet - Jupiter.
Viewing it through a wonderful telescope and seeing three of its moons was a truly fantastic experience.
There must have been over 200 people, both adults and children, attending this marvellous natural display of wonderment.
With so much enthusiasm, I do hope an astronomical society can evolve here in Grantham.
To all those who enabled this evening to take place, an enormous thank you.
