Winners
Bridge Club
Last week’s winners were Charu and Sobhag Shah on Monday, and Gaby Leigh and Jim Steele and Graham Smith and Alan Medlock on Tuesday.
The club meets at Harlaxton Bowls Club on Monday and Tuesday, with play starting at 7.15pm.

Christian unity
Churches Together
Once a year, Christians are made especially aware of the great diversity of following God with so many differing Christian traditions.
The event that touches off this special experience is called Week of Prayer for Christian Unity. It is celebrated from January 18 to 27 in the northern hemisphere and at Pentecost (Whitsuntide) in the southern hemisphere.
Week of Prayer for Christian Unity enters into congregations and parishes all over the world. Pulpits are exchanged and special ecumenical celebrations are arranged.
Here in Grantham, Churches Together will meet in unity for an evening service on Sunday, January 27, at 6pm at Harrowby Lane Methodist Church. The speaker will be the Rev Tony Pick. Everyone is welcome.
Exhibition
Museum
To celebrate this year’s Gang Show, the museum is running a free exhibition throughout February.
Past and present scouts and guides will be reminiscing about their experiences in previous shows and there will be costumes on display, programmes, photographs and other memorabilia from previous years as well as video footage.
Helen Goral, of the museum, is appealing to anyone who has an old photograph or other keepsake from previous shows to lend it to them for the display. Items can be taken to the museum by Thursday, January 31.
In February the 2013 Gang Show will take place at the Guildhall theatre.
On Friday, February 1, the museum will also host An Audience with Richard Felix, a paranormal historian who appeared in many episodes of Most Haunted. He will give a talk on ghosts and spirits, starting at 7.30pm. Tickets are £10 and proceeds will go towards the upkeep of the museum. For more details visit www.richardfelix.co.uk

Ladies Probus 96
The January luncheon at Belton Park Golf Club was attended by 52 members, one guest and guest speaker David Bolton, who gave an interesting talk about his time on the the tall ship Lord Nelson, for people with disabilities. He was thanked by Pat Shipley.
New member, Susan Harkin, was presented with her handbook and badge by president Cassie Cole.
Next meeting is on Wednesday, February 20, when Sue Stephenson will give a talk entitled Puddle Paddock.

Courses
Workers Educational Association
A new season of WEA short courses for adults starts on Wednesday, January 30, with Victorian Vices, looking at the underworld of Victorian society from drink, drugs and gambling to prostitution, cruelty to children and animals and “idleness”.
This will take place at ChristChurch, Finkin Street, from 1.45pm to 3.15pm on Wednesdays for six weeks. The fee is £31.50 (free to those on certain benefits).
Coming up are courses on Law for the Individual, starting on Thursday, February 7, and Royal Gardens, starting on Friday, April 19. A study day on Harlaxton Manor will also take place on Tuesday, June 25.
