Children and parents attended a workshop this week to learn how to get rid of head lice.
The workshops are the brainchild of Grantham mobile hairdresser Natalie Williamson who has set up LICE (Lice Information, Control and Education). Natalie took the workshop to Spitalgate Primary School, Trent Road, on Monday, where parents were shown how to get rid of their children’s headlice within hours.
Natalie said that more than 300 pupils had been checked at two Grantham schools recently and 30 per cent had a problem with lice. In two classes more than half had a problem.
The workshop is returning to Spitalgate School on Monday and Natalie will be giving an introduction to the workshops in a talk at Isaac Newton School, Grantham, on Tuesday, February 12.

Natalie said: “Our business model is now complete and ready to market as a package offered out to primary schools, initially with over 18,000 schools being introduced this spring. We hope to remove stigma with group fun-filled workshops and ultimately reduce head lice numbers. Added to this, we aim to challenge authorities and product companies to improve the information available to parents but also work towards a change in legislation to allow schools to put in place a support mechanism that will make all schools head lice controlled environments, wasting less time on sending out pointless letters that achieve nothing.”
