A number of cafes in Grantham have been owned by Geoffrey Fell over the years.
The Grantham businessman, who now owns Grantham Antiques and Auction Centre in High Street with his partner Pamela Meadows, has run Knightingales in Guildhall Street, Cafe Royale (now Barkers in Vine Street), Goodfellows in Designer Fabric Warehouse and Fellows in Westgate, the name chosen as a mix of his and partner’s surnames.
Prior to running cafes in Grantham, Geoffrey, 62, bought a hot dog wagon and took it to markets in Bingham and Newark for 15 years.
His next move was to open Fellows, which caught the attention of the Duchess of Rutland and led to him running the restaurant at Belvoir Castle for several years.
Fancying a change, Pamela and Geoffrey decided to turn the former Blockbusters store on the corner of High Street and Vine Street into Phoenix Fabrics, which has now become the antiques and auction centre. On February 2, the couple will hold their first auction in a room to the back of the store.
