A FANTASTIC team performance from Grantham saw them knock out the current Mid Lincs under-12 league champions to make it into the quarter-finals.
Being a year younger makes it more impressive as Grantham are the only under-11 team left in the competition.
The first half was very even with neither goalkeeper being tested and the game was battled out in midfield. Then 10 minutes before half time the Fishtoft goalkeeper picked up a back pass and from the resulting free kick Lewis Brady passed to Max Carrington-Haywood who fired high into the net.
The second half saw Fishtoft pressure Grantham from the first whistle but some great defending and good goalkeeping from Luke Papworth denied all the away team pressure.
Grantham worked and tackled very hard in the second half and they deserved the final whistle to register a great win. Next month’s quarter-final will pit Grantham Town under-11s against Bottesford Town under-12s from the Scunthorpe League.

HAWKS started well but were caught out on the break and Boston scored to take the lead.
An excellent goal kick by Oliver Reid was fantastically volleyed first time into the top corner of the Boston goal by Ryan Evans to equalise for the Hawks. However, Boston then regained the lead after another break was not defended.
Hawks continued to play well and equalised after an excellent ball by Josh Kellam was well converted, again by man-of-the-match Evans. The score remained level for the remainder of the first half.
Hawks created some good chances after the break but were unable to capitalise. An excellent goal line clearance in the last seconds by Kyle Scott sent the game into penalties. Boston won the penalty shoot out with their fourth kick after the Hawks missed two of their first three.

Great Ponton 1
GREAT Ponton produced a brave performance against their Scunthorpe League opponents.
The home side scored twice in the first five minutes but Ponton recovered their poise. Adam Gait narrowly missed after good interplay between Will Barron and David Croke led to a Josh Allen cross.
Barron brought a good save from the Greens keeper before he headed home from a Conor O’Leary corner to reduce the deficit. Croke went close with another effort before half time.
Greens increased their lead after a goalmouth scramble and Barron hit the post with a half volley at the other end. Croke went close once again but the home side sealed victory with a breakaway goal.
Ponton’s man of the match was shared between defender Rui Cardoso and midfielder David Croke.

GREAT Ponton progressed to the final despite going a goal down early on.
Josh Crane equalised for the visitors and then Jack Croft capped an outstanding performance by slotting home from a corner.
Crane added a third goal to put the game out of Navenby’s reach.
Ponton’s man of the match was Jack Croft.
