The man behind this summer’s Olympic games Lord Sebastian Coe has praised the work of Grantham sports charity Inspire+.

Charity representatives met with Lord Coe on Friday as he paid a visit to schools in Stamford as part of his bid to continue the legacy of the Games.

Inspire+ CEO Vincent Brittain, who launched the charity last year, said: “He was very complimentary about my work. He said the work we’re doing at Inspire+ is phenomenal. For me in my industry, there’s no higher praise.”

Lord Coe was asked by Mr Brittain to do the honour of officially launching the charity’s Olympic Legacy Challenge, which aims to get children involved in sport and rewards their achievements with gold, silver and bronze medals. The challenge follows the massive success of the South Kesteven Cultural and Olympic Tour across 72 schools.

He said: “What you are doing here today is everything we wanted to build on from the Olympic Games. This is all about encouraging young people to do things they have never thought about, whether it’s taking up a new sport, learning a musical instrument, or being a volunteer. Just enjoy your time now and recognise and use the Games as inspiration and lean on Inspire+ who are encouraging you to take up the challenge and find your future.”

Lord Sebastian Coe is pictured with Inspire+ representatives Laura Graves, Tracy Lamb, Vincent Brittain and Chris Graves, together with two Young Ambassadors.
