Malcolm Knapp is a renowned and popular Grantham historian who has written numerous highly-regarded books about our town, including Bygone Grantham, which has run to numerous editions, and Grantham: The War Years 1939-45.
Born and bred in the town, he first found his passion for history as a pupil at King’s School and he can often be seen taking people on tours of Grantham’s many points of interest.
He worked at Aveling-Barford, then Coles Cranes, where he became parts manager.
After leaving there in 1983, he qualified as a Blue Badge Guide for the County of Lincolnshire.
This summer, he provided and unveiled the Charles Dickens blue plaque in The George Centre.
His other big interest is jazz music.
