Stoke Rochford seniors competed in the annual Poppy Appeal stableford which proved as popular as ever with more than 50 players turning out.
Three players returned 38 points and countback decided the finishing order. Winner was Colin Howett, runner-up was Duncan Bennett and Ernie Armstrong was third The next four placings all scored 36 and countfpback put Charles Donnison fourth place.
Organiser Tim Haward was successful in extracting £567 from the players towards the Lincolnshire Poppy Appeal. The wait now begins to see whether Stoke are again one of the leading money raisers in the county which would entitle them to send some of the leading players from their competition to the Woodhall Spa County finals in November.

There were 33 entries to the Ted Woodhouse Trophy competition which was won by Laurence Haselhurst with a score of 33.
Runner-up was Norman Halliday with 32 on countback from Colin Farrington. Fourth was Fred Williams with 31 on countback from John Clarke.
Winner of the Tuesday stableford was Fred Williams with a score of 45. Second was Shaun Boney with 40 on countback from Alan Addis and Peter Brooks. Best back nine was Tony Barron’s 19 and Ray Clark’s 20 was the top front nine.

The Tuesday ladies’ MBE Trophy raised £120 for charity, with the best stableford scorecard coming from Elaine Sturton with 37 points.
Runner-up on countback was Sue Chambers with 36, from Di Smith. Nearest the pin on the par three third was Norma Shelley who also holed the putt to score the only birdie two of the day.
l Sudbrook ladies beat Pottergate 3-1 in an end of season inter-club matchplay game.
The pairings of Lorna Jackson and Mags McArthur, Linda Whittaker and Shirley Gardiner, and Pat Bartlett and Trinette Speck won the three points. The final pairing of Doreen Fardell and Joan Alton played a close match that went to the 16th green.
