POLICE officers who raided a Grantham home last week and found £5,000 worth of “stolen” Christmas presents had to return the gifts after full receipts were provided.
The story was featured on page 2 of last week’s Journal following a police raid at a Grantham home last Thursday (Dec 22).
However, the police had to hand the presents back on Christmas Eve after receipts for the goods were provided.
The Journal asked a spokesman for Lincolnshire Police if the organisation would like to apologise to the family involved.
Lincolnshire Police issued a statement saying: “Police executed a search warrant at an address in Grantham and recovered a large quantity of presents that they believed to be stolen.
“A 44-year-old local woman was arrested and questioned. She was later released without charge.
“The property was returned before Christmas.”
